memory foam mattress topper

I have seen a memory foam mattress topper in Dunelm store which I am quite interested in. Does anyone have any experience of this type of topper ie does it actually make for a comfortable nights sleep and does it make you hot? Also, there are so many available on the internet - is it better to try out one in store or are they all about the same? Thanks!!

I bought one a few years ago online and found it helped my painful hip. However they are very hot, especially in this weather (although in the winter that is an advantage) and it has flattened a bit over time. I only paid about £30 for a double, 2 inch topper. Perhaps buy a cheaper one to see how you get on with it.0
