Ebay Business after BR

Morning everyone.

I run a small business on ebay and I am registered as self employed with the IR for this.

My ebay fees are all paid up and will not be down as a creditor, and obviously the OR will have all the information available regarding accounts etc in connection with this.

When I go BR in August will I be able to keep this running - as at this moment it - apart from tax credits - is my only source of income, albeit very small.

I have a very small amount of stock - worth about £400 - which will be declared on the form.

I want to do everything right by the OR so if they have all the info they need, and hopefully allow me to continue trading.

Has anyone out there have experience of this?

Any advice will be greatfully appreciated.

Milly x

  • Hello

Yes I was in exactly the same situation. I had around £2500 worth of stock but didnt earn enough for an IPO. The OR said its fine to carry on, they really cant make you unemployed. Thats not going to help anyone.

She wasnt interested in the stock i had, as she felt at auction it would get little. And she also said I was in the best position to realise its true value.

Dont worry. Im sure it is different for every OR but i very much doubt your ebay business will be of any interest to the OR. Just declare it and youre fine.

Basically, as long as it's not a Ltd company, it's straight forward as worriedwithlife says. HOWEVER you have to clearly display your name in your business for the duration of the BR order so if your Ebay name was "Topseller" you'd have to have "J.Smith T/A Topseller" somewhere in the blurb.
