DMP advice plz..

Please give some advice....

I've been in contact with payplan for 2 weeks now going through the process of a DMP. They informed me last night i cannot go into a DMP until we have paid 3 payments to DFS, as we have it on a buy now pay later, due to start paying 21st Aug. So Aug, Sept, Oct, we'd be on our own, dealing with our creditors. I was advised to cancel all DD to our creditors and open a basic bank account, transfer everything, so we'd stop living in our overdraft.

Im very concerned about all of this, because we'd never missed payments to our creditors and to be cancelling payments and then dealing with them direct is very frightening.

Im also wondering if we do our own DMP as since payplan gave me what i call bad news, i received some good news from work.

From Sept when school goes back i will be on a full time (32.5hr) permanent contract, as opposed to my 25hr permanent contract. It will make a huge difference to my wages as currently i work a 40 hr week at the school, those extra 15hrs i only get paid for term time so hence do not get paid them when its holidays. So the for coming 6 weeks, only get paid 25 hrs a week.

But yay from Sept, get paid 32.5hr week every week of the year. Will also be working extra 5 hrs a week, but only paid during term time. But still anything is good to top up my wages.

So should we 'see' if we can manage on our own? Was thinking of using the how much does it cost cal and work out what we should pay more off first. I really don't like the idea of cancelling DD and creditors getting angry with us.

:confused::confused::confused:

    Have you posted a SOA. I am not familiar with your situation hun *forgive me* :P.

    7.5 hours a week can make a difference when paid monthly. If you put up the new figures against outgoings i am sure soemthing could be worked out and if not then you may have to do as payplan suggests.

    Also just a quick suggestion could you not take a part time summer job alot of pace set on for the summer holidays? Asda did this alot when i worked for them.
    You can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

    Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?
  • I really can't post a SOA, because i don't know what my wage will be with new hours added on, i don't know what tax etc would be taken out or what 32.5hr full time contact is per year.

    The thing with payplan is as well, they work out a budget for you on everything to live. i.e £10 mth car matience, which currently we don't budget for. So our SOA id imagine looks bad, but you make cuts where you can to live etc.

    I would work the 6 weeks for summer, but im off back home to Australia for my sisters wedding, which my parents kindly paid for.
