Hi everyone,
As the title says, anyone know of any banks that will lend to Brits that have just returned from living abroad last 4 years ?
Hubs has fortunately secured a permanent contract so has 2 payslips already but other than Halifax we're not eligible anywhere else despite having a very substantial deposit 65% LTV!
Halifax are fine but we're just shopping around for better rate, been offered 4.19 with Halifax 5years fixed.

Why not engage a broker? Would save you the leg work.
Have you been offered a mortgage by Halifax? Credit scoring is the big issue here as you have no recent history.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Mostly because we don't think we need one, would rather save the money to put towards the house!
We both have excellent credit scores on experian & have a MIP from Halifax, which worse case is fine but hoping to get better rate really! At least Halifax are known for being good I guess.0 -
The reason the rate isnt great is that you want a 5 year fix. They all seem to have shot up over the last couple of weeks.
Combine that with being limited on options and you are going to be paying more. You could look at a 2 year fix and then a 3 year fix? Rate will it may be cheaper or even itself out, by the time it comes to renew you will have a 2 year history so more lenders available.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. That's true, hasn't considered that in 2 years we will have more options. Waiting to hear back from metro still, will update when we know more.0

You mention on another thread that your main concern is speed.
If that is the case, you would be better off using a broker.I am a Mortgage Broker

You also have a four year gap in the history. So the credit score quoted is somewhat valueless.0
