Dryden Fairfax

I have received a threatening letter from Dryden Fairfax Solicitors yesterday - Notice of Recovery action. They are claiming that they are acting on behalf of the Halifax with regard to my mortgage shortfall. They are saying that they have tried numerous times to contact me (they haven't, this letter is the first I have heard from them) to discuss a new repayment arrangement. The funny thing is I am already paying this debt through Capital Recoveries. Please help, how should I respond?

Thanks

Phone up Capital Recoveries and ask them. It may be that your debt has been sold to someone else, but you should have been told about this.
  • Thank you. I will ring them on Monday. Strange that they haven't informed me though as I am still paying them!! Also stange that I received a threatening letter yesterday after no previous correspondance

    I wouldn't phone.

I would write to Dryden Fairfax, with a complaint.

Complain that as far as you are concerned, the debt is being repaid through an arrangement with Capital Recoveries. Also complain about stating they have tried to contact you but you have seen no evidence of this.

I would also ask who legally owns and has been asked to collect the debt.

  • I wasn't suggesting he phoned DF, I was suggesting he phones CR. This is the quickest and simplest way to find out what is happening.

True, and follow up in writing as above.
