I used to be an Avon rep, did it successfully for 8 years and it allowed me to to get all the way from college to the end of my degree! Hence why I recommend it. You don't have to pay out for anything with Avon other than your catalogues (which can be re-used) and a one off admin fee, which is split over the first 2 orders. Aside from that, the only other work I had was casual work in the summer holidays. I would recommend it highly.
Maybe you could make a few quid years ago but times have moved on. I have heard universally negative things from existing reps. Why should you pay an "admin fee" to be allowed to make them money?0 -

I'm talking about 2001-2009- not exactly years ago. I've friends who still do it and they're certainly not struggling to make money from it. Why shouldn't they charge you an admin fee to cover the costs of signing you up, setting up your account etc? At least that's a safeguard to make sure that they have committed people signing up. I don't really think you can comment if you have tried it yourself, hearsay is worth nothing.Minimalist

1. They shouldn't charge you because you are promoting their stuff and trying to make them money. I don't pay Amazon or John Lewis to be allowed to promote their products on my website, even though they have to set up my account.
2. Me telling you what I have heard from Avon reps is hearsay. The Avon reps telling me about their bad experiences is not hearsay - it is very reliable first hand evidence.
3. The amount of cheap internet stores selling the same sort of stuff has rocketed since 2009. Competing with this and the sort of rubbish sold of QVC etc is the problem.
Anyway, we are not going to agree on this point - I wouldn't touch these sorts of MLM companies with a barge pole. I want more than £1-2 per hour and I suspect the OP does too.0 -
deffo, besides there's already a ton of Avon reps round here..... why add to - i'm not gonna get anything outta it0

I have heard people complaining about having to leave Avon having made a loss. Turning down uncertain commission work that requires a "buy in" before you start and the having to sell tat to your neighbours, is not being work-shy - it's making a sensible economic decision.
FYI - we abolished slavery in this country many years ago. There are much better ways to make money than MLM.
I think the important equation goes something like this - 40 hours x £5-7 is greater than 40 hours x £1 (maybe... if you're lucky).
How's your Avon job going at the moment? If it was such a good earner, why did you stop in 2009? Did you get lazy or find something much better? Did you have a family to feed when you were slaving away for Avon?

Quite right
Any unsolicited catalogues that get put through my letterbox goes straight into recycling. (I have a sticker by the letterbox stating this so those delivering are forewarned.)Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
i've already said I'm at full time college, and not entitled to any means of money (so I'm not even sat on my backside for government handouts)
, i wanna be a teacher at the end of my education, and I don't see why i should quit my dreams of an actually career to go work in a job I don't wanna do/sit on my !!! claiming for the rest of my life.... sure working during this time isn't an issue except I've been looking constantly and geez i got rejected from Mcdonalds
and that was kinda a low blow point - because well its McDonalds.
besides my course cost ME 4k quitting really isn't an option and would be a massive waste of a year0 -
