Claiming for a fall!

Well i fell down a manhole on my driveway which is owned by Thames Water and had some injuries..

Everyone said i could claim so i contacted a No win No fee company, which i just signed paperwork for so they can start the process...

Then today Thames called me (they dont know i am already claiming) and said it is being passed to their insurance company who will be in touch with me.

So now what, as i think i can cancel with the no win company and just go with the Thames insurance company.
As the no win people wil be taking 35%.

Not sure how to go about it, if anyone has any helpful advice it will me much appreicated. TIA...

How do you know that Thames doesn't know you are already claiming? Comms between companies are fast these days! They may have contacted you as a result of contact from your lawyers? Just be careful!

I would never use a no win no fee.

if you have a good case then the fees will be covered by the other party and you then get all of the money.

So, hire a lawyer that is paid and doesn't take any of your money. sue for your damages AND your legal fees, and get it all yourself.

what does the "small print" on the contract you signed with the No Win No Fee co say about cancellations ?
  • Hi all thanks for replying.

Im sure thames wont know yet as i literally sent the paper work back to the no win people, the day they called.

On the contract it says i have 14 days to cancel thats all.

Obvisouly i dont want to pay the no win people but then i feel for ease of life (very busy working mum) just to stick with them, as i dont no where to start with getting a lawyer etc...

Then what if i get a lawyer but dont win... i guess i have to pay them right?

Sorry if im sounding stupid, just never done anyting like this before...

How did you come to fall down a manhole. And if it was on your drive, how didn't you notice it.
And just because thames water insurance are going to contact you doenst mean that they are necessarily going to pay you, they will want to question you I would think.

Don't cancel until you knw what the call is definitely about.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Irrespective of what happens, if you have legal cover on your home insurance, go through them.
