What to do with old leggings?

That's pretty good! How do you do it, do you have to cut the legs from the bum it?Norn Iron Club member 4730

Oh I LOVE these!
Anyway .... my idea?
Involves alcohol.
Seperate legs - cut top off marrow (save it for "lid" ) & scoop out seeds/pith - fill with brown or demerara sugar - then cover that with "el cheapo" carton orange juice together with some activated yeast - replace "lid" and seal with ... tape; clingfilm; whatever you have that WILL seal it - hang somewhere warm-ish & dry and leave to ferment for 2 or 3 weeks - THEN: the liquid is, well,
It's drinkable by now, OR:
If you want it .... um .... stronger, put it into a wine-making demijohn (with airlock) and ferment it a little longer.
:T
Oh this stuff is syrupy, rich and - did I mention alcohol?

Now look; I really, REALLY do NOT like marrow.
But honestly, if you know ANYONE that grows 'em and you've got surplus leggings PLUS a few squid for sugar, try this.
It's yum, AND potent!0 -
Cut down and hem as shorts to wear under dresses to stop your legs rubbing... ok, maybe just me!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

One leg of them can make a carrier bag holder, for the back of a door, but I would just use them for thermal underwear and chuck the bags out.0

I've covered all my wooden coat hangers to make them and better/prettier for my clothes.
I'd cut the leggings in strips and 'bandage' them round the coat hangers to pad them out then knit/crochet/sew pretty covers.
Usually I use my old tights or DH's old socks.0 -
Cut into strips and make "fabric wool", and make headbands, belts etc. Or use strips to make a rag rug.0

I am loving the arm tights idea, will be experimenting.
I use leggings as thermals under jeans for dog walks in winter.
Have also just started wearing shorter leggings under a maxi dress to stop legs rubbing and is so much more comfortable that I can see this becoming a regular habit.
I also use them on late nights /early mornings to cover up a bit if I am wandering round the house in a shorter nightshirt sorting dogs/ last minute chores etc.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
I'm enjoying this thread!
Loving the arm tights idea and the under a maxi idea. I also feel a bit over exposed in a night at times so might throw some under there too! Now who said I wasn't glamorous?!Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I have to admit the one thing I would NOT do is leave the house in uncovered leggings. I have seen far too many women wearing them seemingly unaware that the world can see not only every contour and bulge of their body but also their underwear !Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20
