Facebook like & share "publicly" ..

For those who enter these, aren't we told by companies to share publicly so they can see our 'entry'? and therefore if anyone looking at the list of shares they would also see that your profile was there?
Only having seen a winners announcement on a fb page I don't see the person announced as having liked or shared (could be that my tablet isn't fully loading entries although it looks like it has) - so if they had done it privately how does the company in question know?
I'd much prefer to share privately sometimes if that was an option, stop the profile from looking too full of comps :rotfl:

I don't share publicly anymore, what I do is set my shares to custom ( excluding all my family and friends), then tag the company in on that share. I'm hoping they can see it that way, have only started doing this recently - if they cant that may explain my severe lack of wins lolI got ham but i'm not a hamster.....0

I read somewhere that companies cannot see who shared their posts so the winner may or may not have done soproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

You can tell if someone has shared a post by clicking on the '87 shares' (or whatever number it is).
I'm not sure if you still show up in the list if you have shared it on your wall but made that post only visible to the company in question.0 -
I wonder if they even check, they may just pick from those who have liked or commented - considering that its against facebooks T&Cs to demand a share from people as part of a comp entry.
I have been tagged into a contest by a friend before and won it - and I didn't even like the company main page, comment, like or share or the post.. weird! It was for a mobile phone sticker thing - for a phone I didn't own, so I asked them to redraw.Wishing you all good luck!

I think you're right - sometimes they don't check. I've seen a few tw a fb comps where someone has questioned whether the winner has actually liked or followed as per the rules and the company has basically said 'yes you are right, it wasn't a valid entry, we'll withdraw'0

I can't remember who it was, but someone who runs a Comping blog did an experiment on her FB page to see if she could see shares that weren't set to public and apparently she could see a majority of them (or so I recall!)2019 Wins

Thanks for your replies! I did have a look through the shares and couldn't see said winner, she didn't appear to be on the likes either which made me wonder how the company chose her IF they can only see public posts (but the company is very well known so I don't know why they would be unwilling to give out prizes)..

Edit: I think the previous winner is a bit mysterious too, doesn't appear on the posts from what I see & didn't seem to acknowledge the winners announcement posted on facebook. Decent kids prizes too so you'd think anyone entering would be keeping an eye out for the win. Thanks to all who post comps! :A0
