Some broker advice please?

My husband and I are looking for a mortgage but we're not sure whether its worth speaking to some other brokers. We spoke to L&C yesterday and they said we should wait until my husband has a permanent contract or apply for a smaller mortgage based on my salary alone because he will be on a fixed term contract starring in September as a newly qualified teacher. The man on the phone seemed adamant that none of the lenders they check would consider us for a mortgage. We then spoke directly to the teachers building society who seemed very positive about us applying as we fit the bill in terms of who they were set up to lend to. We have filled in and sent back their budget planner and are waiting to hear from them. In the mean time would it be worthwhile for us to try another broker? Or is this or best chance at the moment? I don't want to waste time going through our details with everyone but also don't want to just assume that no one else will consider us without checking. Any advice very welcome!

Not really enough for us to go on.
Sounds like your L&C contact may have been in a hurry to move on to an easier case.I am a Mortgage Broker

I had that impression too.
What else do you need to know?0 -
I would need to know the case inside out and sideways.
I don't deny it's tricky.
I could not give you a yea or nay unless I knew everything.I am a Mortgage Broker

Teachers are probably likely to be more accepting of your scenario than most as they understand it more than most.
As above, there may be other lenders who will do joint but it will depend on the circumstances. L&C are fee free, anything that is not cheapest they have to put some effort in to. I dont think you are really their target market.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
