At his request yes I did. I never asked for or wanted your sympathy either as I was honest in my question. Why not go and bother somebody else if I offend you so much. Im sure you can go and vent your sarky nasty attitude elsewhere.
Just because you didn't like the question put to you, there is no need to be rude, OP.
NI is not a savings pot. It pays for the existing population's costs.
If he ever needs to claim any means-tested benefits in the future (not just residential care) then he will be forcing the then taxpayers to stump up, because he has deliberately deprived himself of his assets.
There are rules against this, called deprivation of assets. Particularly in times of austerity, to expect others to pay out when one's own assets have effectively been hidden, is greedy and selfish.0 -
Now that the issues have been made abundantly clear and some very pleasant and helpful people here have pointed out other issues in terms of also protecting my dad I will explain it all to him. My dad would not wish to be selfish or greedy. He is old school and wanted me to benefit from his hard work which is how he was brought up. He sees the government as taking from the less well off and gets indignant about it but he is not a crook and neither am I. I don't have to answer any questions but have done so and it wasn't the questions that offended me it was the aggressive accusatory tone in which they were put. I think the person in question can defend himself very well without anyone else having to accuse me of being rude. There are lots of things that are unfair about taxes and benefits but like I said my dad was looking out for me his intention in doing that was not to be greedy or selfish despite what you think.0
