    Redcard,

What if I told you I have a well paid job but my partner is seriously ill, the drugs needed are expensive and not available on the NHS ......

Now it aounds like a scam

    Stix62,

thank you for your positive contribution, its more along the lines of what I was expecting.

I will use those groups thank you as its just a matter of copy and paste, although there are not many members of said groups and I was hoping for a wider audience.

With the open groups forget the number of actual members. I look at several FB job groups in my own area but haven't 'joined' any of them.

I ran a small business with my OH and we advertised on Gumtree local for a part time paid position. Got absolutely swamped with expressions of interest.

Thanks again stick 62, didn't actually think of that.

Thanks murphybear. I believe you have to pay for gumtree ads, but I'll double check.

    Hi Phil,

It was a hypothetical scenario I was putting to redcard to demonstrate you can have a successful business/job but still have higher outgoings than income.

Can't believe the general negativity by some people. It was a straightforward question and kindly some people have helped with some good suggestions. Others have too much time on their hands :-(

Perhaps you should consider, OP, that when you write in ambiguous terms some readers may draw a meaning that you don't intend.

Your posts made me think 'Cheapskate...Pyramid...!!!!!!?"

Might be an idea to have friends proof/critique your advert before you post a final version.

I take your point missme, perhaps I'm judging others how I would interpret the post! obviously differently.

Like wise I wasn't asking for opinions as to whether it was a scam, just for suggestions on where to advertise.

Cheapskate? I don't get that. Is this site not about saving money? Based on that assumption aye we should just call cheapskate on any post from people looking to save money.

Apart from that I did explain reasons for not being able to spend on advertising.

For the record, the position is a self employed sales role as an independent distributor for a national company that has been trading for 25 years. Stock is supplied on a sale or return basis with no financial outlay.

Now I didn't want to go into that much detail as it would appear I'm advertising the vacancy on here, but if cynics are doubtful there you go ........

The nature of the role is immaterial to me. I'm just commenting on how your posts read and why you got some of the responses you did. I, and others, may actually be doing you af favour!! :D

Your inital post made you sound like an employer looking to recruit on the cheap (as in it being all about your profits). I just thought if you don't want to pay for advertising, what else won't you pay for/are you scrimping on?

If it's a self-employed position, why are you advertising unless there's something in it for you? You recruit people who recruit people who recruit people until the pyramid collapses.

Your post about your outgoings being more than your income, in the context of the job you're trying to promote, did make it sound like a total scam.

Yes, this is a moneysaving site and your 'pay it forward' notion is laudable. Just be clearer and unambiguous. Maybe you've experienced people seeking your approval for something (new haircut/frock/perfume) that you think is vile? In those situations, I just squeal 'Oooo!' or 'Wooowww!' And my wide eyes are taken as excitement rather than shock... So, I hope you understand, that I'm not judging you, just what/how you write.

Sounds like Herbalife or the like - the OP gets a referral fee for everyone they recruit. Little better than pyramid selling.
