wonder how many who made disparaging remarks to OP actually shop at Waitrose.

Par for the course on this board - apologies.

Everyone bangs on about how good Waitrose is supposed to be and I do shop there very occasionally.

Bought the Essential Waitrose mashed potato to have with tea and it was just slop. Usually I get the Sainsbury's Buttery Mash which is really good for £1.50, but this was worse than Smash.

All this from supermarket that sells itself on being so above everywhere else. I know I won't be bothering to return.

Is the Buttery Mash from the Sainsbury's Basics range or is it one (or more) up from that? If you've not compared like for like, that might not have helped.

I thought they were funny, never apologize on other people's behalf, it doesn't work.
    It's someone else's fault.

I thought PFT was apologising for her own criticism of other posters... which of course she is right to do. ;)

As others have said, home made mashed potatoes are vastly superior to any packet version and so easy to do. No recipe needed at all.
