My Credit Score....annoyed!

hi all! new user, not sure if this is the right place to post...

Ive checked my credit score recently, its 662, which is poor by experian who i checked it through

i have around 8 credit style agreements, 3 of those are mobile phone contracts with tmobile(1 is work, paid by them but in my name, 1 personal one, and 1 i pay for my mum) and 1 with 3, which is for my sister that she pays for, but is in my name again

i also have a crdit card with barclays and a store card with littlewoods...all are "0" in that are being paid regularly no late payments, but im concerned as i have a 2 old voda contracts which i thought were closed, in 2005, and it does say satisifed on the accounts??? also i had an issue with orange in 2004 which was settled this year, a large amount of £1000 was paid via a debt collector agreement over the last 2 years each month with a contractual agreement. this is classed as "8" but states again satisfied...

can anyone help me??? i am rejected for most credit agreements, and im unsure what to do????

I am working reguarly now, and although am living at home with family, am worried next year when i move out (im 27) when i get married, about not being able to get credit for a car, mortgage etc????

thanks!!

the "8" on your rating is a default and will be on there for six years from the date of the default, you are pretty much screwed for any check done by machine, mortgage, Car loan etc can be obtained but you will usually have to speak to a real person and explain the circumstances, I have a lower score than you and have all the usual lines of credit none of which from adverse or sub prime lenders, some people write themselves off and are resigned to silly APRs because of a bad score which I believe plays into the lenders hands.

The worse thing you can do is just keep firing in applications as each search will further degrade your score.

    Good Luck

I have a bad credit rating, yet have never missed any payment on anything ever, I have a mortgage which I slightly overpay on and no other debt. I have alot of savings, yet when I have looked at my credit score I come out as bad... is this because I do not borrow as a general rule??

Credit scores are also based on circumstances such as where you live, whether you are single, married, divorced, how old you are. Mine isn't brilliant because I've borrowed my max amount now. I would'nt worry about a mortgage, if you have a good deposit you will be able to get a mortgage as it is a secured debt and failed repayments can be reclaimed. Personally I think getting credit for a car is ridiculous anyway, you can get decent second hand cars cheaply.

There is an article about improving your credit score on the front pages. HTH?

    thanks guys!

I know in my youthfull stupidy i messed up bigtime with orange..and i have not made the same mistake again....sad it will take so long to get it wiped off my account...is it worth getting in touch with the credit agency to get a note put on the said orange ex account to state it is fully paid up?? if its not worth it, then so be it...

I have not huge debt either, something like 2,000 overdraft and a 2,000 student loan to repay, which im doing on both as we speak with a good job...car wise im thinking of the future, as i would like to get myself something nice and new or near new in the next 18months.

glad the mortgage thing is not determined by my credit score

does anyone know of a good low apr credit card worth applying for with people with "poor" credit scores???
