Just thought I'd update this.
after more to-ing and fro-ing and these useless imbeciles asking for more documents and having to sign a declaration that this will be our main residence and oh we cant accept online printed bank statements (really?)
We finally have had a mortgage offer !!!!!!!!
Its taken 4 months !!
I do wish to put in a humungous complaint about it all, should this be done now or should I wait until I have the keys and how do OI go about it all? What are my chances of anything being done?0 -
Hi,
I've just applied for a mortgage with the LBS.
I'm a little bit overwhelmed with how bad they are.
I needed urgent advice about a ORIGIPNAL bank statement. I bank with first direct.
A few things really...
1. Are there any LBS mortgage customers who banked with first direct. How fair did things go?
2. Is the original bank statement just as proof of address? Has anyone else used a bank letter with your address on or another official bank document.
I feel that there is no support at the building society. Today I spent 2 hours on hold and after being passed on from 5 advisors to be told the office was closed as I applied online!
I work in the banking sector and I'm appauled.
Has anyone got any experiences with the LBS?

Tons of experience with them, all pretty bad.
I warn all clients they are terrible and we'll have a nightmare.
Most of my clients prefer to have them excluded from my research, the ones that don't get a very strong health warning, and I don't put up with any complaints about delays or ridiculous requests from themI am a Mortgage Adviser

As posted on another thread, we are with LBS through a broker and doing fine so far (i. e., mortgage offer a few weeks ago, but not exchanged, yet). They took about 6 weeks from application to binding offer, over Christmas . But through a broker and yes, they are high maintenance for documentation requests.0

My experience was similiar last year (OCT 2015).
Through a broker, offer within 3 weeks (inc valuation within that time). My purchase fell through just before exchange but my solicitor had received the go ahead from LBS about a week after confirmation all was OK.0 -
I am currently doing a mortgage with LBS. They are incompetent beyond belief. Having got every document possible they still send a 'to do' list every other day asking for stuff they have already got. Went to them direct but sick of waiting have now been to a mortgage broker. He says my application is so straightforward that another High St bank says they will do it in a week. Because I have already paid valuation fee I am giving LBS a couple more days to send the offer they claim is forthcoming. Words cannot describe how bad LBS is and how stressful they are.0

I am a first time buyer and was advised by my broker that Leeds BS were the only lender available to me. For weeks they have been asking for a ridiculous amount of information from me. Why they won't take print out bank statements stamped by branch I have no idea!
Also when I was in a university house where I had no proof of address, they wouldn't accept the tenancy agreement I provided? This is all after I got an email off my brokers secretary stating they had a verbal agreement and were going to get me something in writing within the next 48 hours to confirm the mortgage offer!
I have found this whole process an absalute nightmare and really hard. If I had any other choice I would not be using Leeds BS!0 -
I reserved my house in Nov '15.... first mortgage application was with LBS, MA sent all documents and then requested more.... around 1 month later they tried to book a valuation and then realised they were up to their lending limit on that particular development even though they had been given the address from the very start
