Santander Mortgage (more information request)

Options
Hello all,

I'm a first time buyer and have never been through anything like this only a few finance things, loans and credit cards in the past. I have just bought a 3 bed house for £66k and put a 5% deposit down of £3300. It just made it through to the underwriter yesterday and he came back with a request for more documents/info which was for my may statements and information on 3 of my standing orders. Is this normal? I'm so worried that they just go nope! I earn around £35000 with a basic of £25000. I have £7000 on a loan and £1000 on a card. Will they also penalise me for the last 3 months I have spent around £500 a month in paying my other card off as well as this one? It meant that each month I only had a few £ in the account or on one occasion I was £8 into my £500 planned overdraft?

Sorry for all the questions and a massive thank you to anyone that reads or replies. Have a great day.

Stu

    Hi Stu,

These are perfectly normal requests from Santander and nothing you have said should be cause for concern.

Unfortunately the Santander process is a slow one, but the product at the end of the process is usually pretty competitive.

Unsure if you are through a broker or in branch, but just provide clear documents promptly and try and relax as this process is likely to be weeks and maybe into a month + as they are under workload pressure at the moment.

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for your prompt reply, I am going through a lovely broker at the moment however I felt like I have asked him loads of questions already and that I'm more an annoyance now. I can see by other people that the wait has been quite lengthily which I suppose is a good thing for business on Santander's side as well as for us and for you guys as brokers/advisers. Do you know what they could ask for next or could I be fortunate that they go to valuation next? I seemed confused that they didn't ask for any of my loan details or credit card statements.

Thanks again Dave and anyone else.

Do not try and second guess, the could and do ask for anything and some are random.

You broker is uploading the documents promptly, so you will just need to see out the process.
