Advice on buying a treadmill

Can anybody give in to some of their advice as to what to look for?
I just want a fully functional treadmill for walking and jogging.

Can anybody tell me how the HP works? I see some with 4HP, 6HP and higher, whats more suitable for us?

Can anybody recommend us some brands?
I dont want to spend too much, it's only for home use, none of that high-tech gym-quality equipment.

Note: I dont want comments from people saying that we're wasting money on buying a treadmill because this is our decision and i'll base this decision from the information I get.

Thanks!

Are you looking at getting a manual or motorised?
I borrowed a manual one for a couple of weeks and I hated it, the belt slips and you can't keep a good pace up.

We spent £600 on ours but it needed to be that expensive because it needed to take my weight :o We bought it specifically for that reason as I weighed in at nearly 23 stone at the time. I did the Couch to 5K on it and haven't looked back. I now run outside (I have lost over 9 stone with jogging and diet) but hubby still uses it because it's easier on the knees. Ours is a York T202 bought in October 2012. Don't think they do that model anymore but it's worth looking at weight limit/how often are you going to use it. We had a cheaper one from Argos before and it blew up - couldn't take the strain! :o

    Wow! Well done!!

I only want to lose 2 stone (currently a size 14 but want to get back into a 10) and I keep putting off excuses to go jogging, but as you lost so much, theres no reaosn for me not to!
