Debt from Llyds CC --> SOLD TO Westcot --> SOLD TO Robinson way ??

If there was CC Debt with a card, not paid for many months.
Letters came from the creditors, then it got passed on from the CC Company to Westcott, debt collection agency, whom purchased the debt I presume?
Westcott asked for arrangements to pay this money back, etc.
something was paid back to them, as a token payment... then another 5+ months went on..
after this time then a letter comes for the same debt, but from a debt collection agency called Robinson Way to say, owe them this money, for arrangements to pay them.
Letters from Westcott have stopped
and a long term payment arrangement with Westcott was NOT made.
Does that mean, Westcott has sold this debt on to Robinson Way ?
and the debit is no longer the responsibility of Westcott? - so westcott is owed nothing ?
and future association with westcott is no longer needed, but now with Robinson way ?

You need to check the letters to see who owns the debt. If it talks about 'our client' then likely Lloyds still own it.
Westcot quite often collect for the banks once their internal team has failed to collect.
If Robinson Way are writing to you, that's who you deal with. If in any doubt, write and ask if they own the debt and if not who does.:beer:0 -
If the ownership of the debt has changed, you should have had a letter called a Notice of Assignment. Back when Westcott started chasing it and now Robinson Way.
If this debt is still on your credit file, the company reporting this account will be the owner. (It can take a couple of months for that info to catch up though).BSC No 248

When the Debt management company, doing the debt management plan ....(Step change or Payplan) and doing the income expenditure with them,
and them they negotiate with these creditors, by possibly sending them the income/expenditure form (if they request).
then will they negotiate with (and send the inc/exp form) to:
-Robinson way? or Westcott?
or the credit card company who had the debt originally ?0 -
They'll work with whoever has responsibility to collect on it, so Robinson Way.
What may have happened is that Lloyds put it out to Wescot for a bit, recalled it, then sent it back out to Robinson Way. I would expect RW to refer to Lloyds as their client and for Lloyds to be reporting to the CRAs.
But it is worth checking your credit report as I have seen occasions where two organisations are reporting (and reporting a default) on the same debt, which is clearly unfair.0 -
This is not unusual. I have 2 debts with lloyds and when I first defaulted they changed the collection companies 7 times even though I had made an agreement to pay a nominal payment. I was very confused and in the end couldn't work out who I was supposed to pay so I wrote a complaint to the banking ombudsman and they told lloyds to stick to one company.0
