Phone contract termination. Not paid termination fee

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on how to deal with this debt collecting company.
Basically, I bought a phone, had it for 3-4 months, then accidently broke it.When it came to repair it, I was told insurance doesn't cover it and I had to pay £120.I found the company's service unprofessional and inadequate when I was trying to explain to them that it was an accident. After failing to do that, i terminated the contract without paying the fee(nearly £700).Now this company is calling me and sending letters, saying they need to speak to me.i haven't replied neither to those.
What should I do?

Either arrange to sort it or keep ignoring it and hope they dont take you to court and get a CCJ against you.
The next knock on the door after that could be the bailiffs.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You owe them the money. It's not their fault that you broke it in such a way that your insurance wouldn't cover it. You are fully liable for the cancellation fees, so I'd suggest coming to payment terms with them.
You could ask for a reduction in the total sum, but frankly, they don't have to allow you anything. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Hi...
You can't just walk away from a contract and not expect to pay anything back!
You owe them money and unless you want a mark on your credit file, a summons to court or a bailiff on your door step then I'd give them a ring.0 -
When you say you terminated the contract, did you write in to inform them, phone them, or just cancel the direct debit?
Whichever way will unfortunately still incur the fee as you entered a legal contract with the company to provide goods and services. As far as the phone provider is concerned, they have fulfilled that role. You can't just terminate the contract because you didn't like the way they spoke to you. You have to go through their official complaints procedure first, at the very least.
How did the phone become damaged? And who evaluated the cost of the repair? I'm guessing at £120 the screen got cracked? Did the insurance company give specific reasons as to why they would not uphold the claim?0
