CABOT harrasment calls

About 6 months ago I received a letter from a debt company claiming I had a debt on a "Barclaycard". I've never had one. I wrote back with the standard letter(template found on this forum) "Firstly, no debt is acknowledged to you. You have contacted me regarding the account with the above reference number, which you claim is owed by me.

Secondly, I would point out that under the Limitation Act 1980 Section 5 that the alleged debt is Statute Barred." Also asking them to provide proof of debt."

I didn't hear back from them, but at the end of May I received a letter from Cabot basically saying the same thing that I owed this money. I wrote to them with a copy of the letter I sent to the 1st company and again asking for written proof. Up to yesterday heard nothing but are now getting numerous phone messages from Cabot.
What's my next step?? Thanks

    Agreed.

Leave the statute barred angle alone for now. If it's not your debt then you can't really say that you know it's statute barred, unless they've offered the information that no payment has been made for over 6 years, which seems unlikely.

Check your credit files to see if they have put anything on any of those.
It may be fraud or it may be a fishing trip but you don't want incorrect data ending up on your credit files because of it.
