Anna's First Debt Free Diary

I've been moved to a new role at my work this week, which means I am now primarily office based - this is to allow me to try and get my energy back and also get through the hardest part of my transition. They've only asked me to work 9-12 for a while as i recover from illness which has meant I can have my breakfast before I go and then my dinner when I'm home, so it's not costing me anything.
Well my plan not to use the debit card went out the window this week - due to food shopping. I ended up spending £60 at Tesco in one go - i needed some new comfy bras due to being sat in a hot office all day, so bought two for £12. I also ended up buying a few months worth of my favourite shampoo and conditioner as it was reduced to half price.
Tesco took the minimum payment as a direct debit, so that is another £85 off their card.
I've managed to sell a few more things this week on eBay and made £20 after fees etc but I have auctions ending tomorrow so hopefully should get a little more.
Otherwise I'm doing very well - I've resisted making any big purchases (something i would have probably done by now if i wasnt budgeting) and I'm counting down 22 days till my next payday!Started signature in July 2014

The very best of luck to you with the life change and debt busting.
Well done!0 -
Well,
You know how life has a way of messing up things? Stuff happened which involved buying a new PC monitor, paying for for entire household food budget for 10 days and a fall into spending money on things which weren't essentials
Since last update i made the payment on my Nationwide loan, bringing it under £7000.
New pay day, new start.
With the new paycheck I've had to clear close to £500 off my Very account as the 0% on that was to expire in September and if i didn't clear it it would have cost me a fortune.
I've made the minimum payment again on my RBS card. I've paid another £200 off my Tesco Card and they will take £80 in a minimum payment on the 5th. The Tesco card is costing me about £45 in interest a month at the moment which isn't ideal
I have a problem with spending money - if i get down or lonely i tend to buy things to cheer me up. I am trying my best to find ways to avoid this!
Between the paychecks in July and August I've managed to clear almost £1600 in debt so far and once my Nationwide loan comes out and my minimum payment i will have just scraped my 1k a month debt repayment target. The thing is, i know i can so better!Started signature in July 2014

Hi Anna
I read through your thread and just wanted to wish you good luck, you have a good chunk of disposable income to throw at your debts and I'm sure you'll get there. I can empathise with you - I had my LBM at 29 after years of spending on random things to make me feel better (monsoon dresses mostly), nothing like the big 3-0 to put things into focus!
My only suggestion is you stop paying for Spotify and suffer the adverts. Every little helps.
