7 weeks today since we accepted the offer on our house and we have not even had the survey done on the house yet. It was supposed to be organised monday and still waiting.
Once the survey is done, could take up to 10 weeks for mortgage offer to come through. Ours took 6 days.
The house we are buying they are getting grumpy due to the hold up. They have now found a house which has increased the chain, were originally going to go into rented.
We are limited due to catchment area if we loose the house we are buying, so our youngest goes to school with her sister so no other houses which are in catchment, suitable etc.
Rant over, had to get it off my chest.

If the people you are buying from are now buying a house they need to hold on to you as their buyer. The trouble with chains is that nothing moves at the same pace and some peoples expectations are too high. Stick with it and keep chasing things up and good luck.If i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here

That's an unusual delay for a survey!
What sort of surveyor did you select out of interest? (not asking for names, but was it linked to your mortgage company, or a local independent?)0 -
Who's telling you your buyers' mortgage offer may take 10 weeks?! Never heard of that before.
Does seem a bit like you're worrying about things that may or may not happen.
Average time from offer to purchase is 12 weeks so I'd say you're probably around halfway through the process. Try not to panic - they'll probably get their mortgage offer within a couple of weeks or so of the survey being done. If much longer, then you can start worrying.
My last purchase took around 11 weeks - and that was with it taking three weeks for the surveyor to send out my survey! Mortgage offer was pretty much instantaneous once they had the okay from surveyor.

PS Involve the EA you're selling through! Any hint of you not being happy and they'll probably be more than happy to get involved/chase!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

Progress of some sort, our buyers valuation on our house is happening tomorrow.
I saw our buyers letter from the bank, it had that the mortgage offer could take up to 10 weeks. Though their broker said it won't take that long, but we will see, everything else has taken forever.
Our mortgage and valuation on the property we are buying was weeks ago.

I had to wait 7 weeks for my mortgage valuer's survey- there was a massive backlog last summer and everyone was in the same boat. Once done the survey was sent to my mortgage provider the following day and things then moved very quickly.
Get your agent to find out if your buyer's mortgage provider has a specific problem with surveyors. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

Bizarrely, though everything procedurally seems to be going well for our buyers (and the valuation surveyor was in within 3 weeks), they're only just sending the building surveyor at 9 weeks in with all the searches and other stuff lined up:huh: My guess is they were trying to save money not having a survey and someone's convinced them otherwise.
No accounting for how people run things.
This is the first time I've sold (though I've bought twice) and I'm not in a massive hurry as I'm not resident at the place being sold, but basically I'd never expect a sale to go through in under 12 weeks. Both my purchases took 11 weeks, and I consider that quite fast.0 -
