Worried we'll never get our new kitchen

Hi money savers
We engaged a company to fit us a new kitchen. Total cost ~£10k.
So far we have paid ~£3.5k by bank transfer (part holding deposit, part paid on survey)
The work was supposed to start yesterday (14/07/14). But for the last couple of weeks communication has become increasingly sporadic and since last thursday we haven't been able to get through over email, text or phone. The 0800 number on their website is now no longer working. And we're getting mailbox-full bouncebacks from emails.
Today we found some worrying online reviews added in the last week. A customer who had their old kitchen removed and 13 weeks later eventually paid someone else to finish it off and didn't get their money back. The company has told this customer that they are winding up the business because of money problems.
We now obviously don't want them to start work and be without a kitchen. We're expecting a baby in a couple of months so don't feel we can take the risk.
We really just want to get our money back.
Does anybody have any advice? I remember reading for example that you need to give a supplier the chance to come good. But in this case we're scared to. Do we have any options?
Many thanks in advance

I think you need to name them some members maybe able to find information on them.
Paying by bank transfer was a bad move though. I wouldnt put money on you getting that back.

Hi Molerat
The geogrphic numbers on the website all go to what sounds like the same mobile voicemail service.
The Whois address is the same as the company registration address. I suppose we could drive over there! It's not too far from us
We used a third party website to get to them. Something like ratedpeople but not that. I'll check with my wife if you think it could be useful.
The lady who left the negetave review used her name and town on the review and we found her on facebook so we could try and conact her. Would that be useful do you think?
Many thanks0
