'Free' legal advice

Hi All
Just to let you know and if anyone can help:
My mum and dad have been contacted regarding assisting them with legal advice to start with on power of attorney. Once the representative got in their home they commenced by explaining about nursing homes etc. They advised them to put all their assets into a 'trust', Mum and Dad was led to believe it would be put in mine and my brothers names, nope - this was tied up until both parties passed away so they could not sell the house etc or break the trust. This costs them the princely sum of £2195 UP FRONT. They also scared mum and dad saying probate would cost £8000 the first year going to £16000 after that.
The company is not interested and refusing to give any money back, although thankfully mum and dad have not signed the draft copy.
We currently have engaged the family solicitor to act on their behalf to try and get some of the money back.
These people are the scum of the earth to do this to vulnerable elderly people.
Anyone else had similar dealings please?
Many thanks

Can you name this company? If they are solicitors you should report them to the SRA.0

Nope not solicitors :-( I'm afraid.0

If you don't want to name the organisation here (and I think you should) then at least you should report them to ActionFraud.

So what's been going on in the last three months Shazh70?
Has your family solicitor recovered the money?
What did Action Fraud have to say?0 -
Hi, solicitor still trying to get the money back, they have had a letter but passed it straight on to their solicitors! They are saying that they should have cancelled within the 7 days, but how could they if they had not received the goods until 21 days later?
I am thoroughly disgusted that this company is making my mum ill. The solicitor is going to send another strongly worded letter to their solicitor with facts and hope that they will refund the money. If not I am taking them to small claims court.
I have notified Rip Off Britain, Watchdog and just looking into ombudsmans to see which they come under.
Again any help or assistance is much appreciated from you all. Haven't tried Action Fraud, but will certainly be chasing that one up this afternoon.
Thanks again.

Have reported to Action Fraud, thanks again.
Hoping with enough people involved they will refund the money.
Just really don't want anyone else to go through this, someone who doesn't have anyone to check through things :-(0 -
Update!
Claim has been filed against them in small claims court.
If they've in, do we have to pay their solicitor costs?
Many thanks
