advice please

Hello all

I hope you are all well. I am need of some advice about 5 years ago i purchased my first property as i had a baby on the way and we had saved enough for a deposit on a house. Not long after i completed on the property i was made redundant and needed a job asap i called an agency and got one same day but this job paid £500 a month less than what i needed so to cut a long story short for about 9 months i used my credit card to make up for the short fall. After the 9 months i got offered another job on the same money as before but my car died and i needed something for a 50 mile a day commute so i got a loan almost 3 years on i owe in the regen off 15.000 between the credit card and loan. I approached an advice walkin center and they where very helpfull the man setup £1 token payments to my creditors as after an income evaluation that was all i could afford. This man has now left the company and all my correspondents have not been past on to me and companies are asking for payments in full. What can i do any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

    Hi

If your creditors are chasing you for payment then I would initially write back to say you are seeking advice from one of the debt advice charities and ask them to put your account on hold for 30days. There is a sample letter here https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/sampleletters/sole-letters/Pages/Hold-action-on-your-account-%28sole-name%29.aspx

How long have you been making the £1 token payment so far? Have you been paying the £1 payments to your creditors directly yourself?

If you don't have a copy of the income & expenditure statement the previous advisor created for you, then you could either contact the 'walk-in centre' and ask for a copy of all the documentation or you could contact one of the debt advice charities and ask for their help in dealing with your debts and negotiating with your creditors.

Either write to the companies your self and explain that at the moment all you can afford is a token payment of £1 or go through someone like Stepchange or National Debtline who will do this on your behalf. Only difference is that you pay them a set amount a month and they pass the money on and act as a middle man. It's nothing you can't do with a letter yourself to be honest.
