Tuesday 15th July 2014 - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all,
A few money saving bits from me today:
*Saved energy by sharing bath water, line-drying washing & turning washing machine spin cycle down from 1400 to 700 setting for summer.
*Water veggies & feed potato beds & runner beans with home made comfrey liquid.
*Make bread dough for rolls & tonight's pizza.
*Pick more lettuce for tonight's salad.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Claimed £50 cash from UGov as hit my 5000 points finally. (It will go in the bathroom fund when it arrives)
*Claimed another £10 John Lewis voucher from Ipsos.
*Clear out shed....well, my side of it, anyway. Free fitness as it's a big job, also I like things much more organised than the current clutterfest. I've found a quarter bag of aquatic compost, a whole carrier bag of string which I'd forgotten about, both items were on my list of items needed from garden centre.
    *Did a few surveys.
*Investigate lemon pickle to see if ready for bottling.....blimey, it's hot! No worries though, mr f has asbestos mouth!
*All leisure time will be free activities: Finish library book, carry on knitting jumper for nephew, write blog, watch recorded tv prog & entertain cat.
Have a good day everyone. Keep your hand on your pence!

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Well I checked my bank balance and I have £24 left 'til pay day which is next Tuesday. The good news is I also have a £10er in cash in my purse, and I have petrol. So its just food really for the next 7 days. Im sure I can make it streeeeeetch

So today I will be planning the next 7 days meals with my limited budget. Wish me luck.

    Hi guys/gals,

I'm back, hopefully as a regular. Quick post this evening:

:cool:Worked my last shift for a while. Took a packed lunch with me but didn't eat it as left earlier than planned. Brought lunch home to eat instead.

:DHome-baked quiche, muffins and scotch eggs from leftover ingredients we had in the kitchen. Did not go to the shops and buy expensive rubbish. Dinner will be quiche and potato croquets OH made last week and froze.

:DTreating huge, purple diluting-juice stain on tablecloth with £1 stain remover instead of throwing away the cloth and buying a new one.

    Freebies:

:DFree sample of BVLGARI OMNIA Indian Garnet Perfume. I use these samples to fragrance the wardrobes: (Link)

:DFree energy drink for O2 customers. Sign into your O2 Priority Moments account to claim your Freebie at Holland and Barrett.

    Hello all,

    Today:

    * Went to CAB and did some more training. Last session next week :j
    * Picked gifts my nan sent me. Including £200 :O :j
    * Rang courts and got them to stop bailiff action and arrange a payment plan :j
    * Met up with homeless friend at the JobCentre, filled out mandatory reconsideration form for him, took him for a coffee :A
    * Emailed courts requested info of employment & expenditure, and asked some questions & for written confirmation

    And I still should:
    * Write to Leeds Parking Services asking for mitigating cirumstances & letting them know about only receiving the email now
    * Re-contact the police re burglar
    * Fill out working tax credit form & send it!

Feel very relieved at the court & bailiff situation. Done my fair share of research into it, thus was prepared to deal with it. Have a lovely evening all, and God Bless x
