I’m a first time buyer and currently going through a mortgage with the Post Office/Bank of Ireland. When it comes to the valuation stage does the Post Office contact the estate agents directly to arrange this?

The surveyor selected by the lender will use the access details you provided on the application.
So if you provided the selling agent's details, the surveyor will contact them to arrange access.I am a mortgage broker. Exactly as KingStreet said.
I'm buying our house privately and avoiding estate agents.. so we named the current property owner and the valuer contacted them directly.
