Rossendales collect - debt not on Experian?

Ok, so Aktiv Kaptial have been sending me letters for a debt of around £10,000 for ages, ive ignored all of them, now all of a sudden i have got a letter from Rossendales Collect on behalf of them for it saying i have ignored all previous requests and they have been instructed to recover it.
But the thing is the debt is not showing on my Experian credit report. I think i know its from a debt i onced owed possibly Egg, but if its not showing on my Experian report are they just trying it, i was going to ignore it like all the other letters but wanted to know if i was right.
Its almost 6yrs for the debts (i have some others) that i owe. So what is going on here, on my Experian report both my previous Egg debts have been classed as satisfactory for the last few years. hmmmm?

If you owe the money, which it appears you do, then they are trying to collect it from you, 6 years have to pass before it will become SB, you need to check your dates as its not unknown for creditors to take legal action just a few months before it becomes SB, and as you have ignored all other letters from them, I would be very careful, never a good idea to "ignore" these letters, it could lead to a CCJ by default.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. But what about if the debt is not showing on my credit report for that amount? I have other debts showing for different amounts, but not one for the amount they are asking for? This is why i am confused0

The information held by credit reference agencies is often out of date, or incorrect, the balance showing on there will not necessarily correspond with the actual amount outstanding.
Sometimes creditors don't update files for months or even years.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I understand what your saying, but all my credit files have been updated within the last 3 years or sooner as i have checked each one, the last time i have had any debt of this amount they are asking for or more was almost 6yrs ago, this is why this amount does not make sense. The amount they are asking for is less than any i have on file, so it surely can not be any of the ones on there, even if they have not been updated im sure this company would not be asking for something less than what they think i owe? (if i am going by the updated amounts on my report)0

defaulted accounts are removed from your reports after 6 years0

So may be SB then, I suggest you send them the "provit" letter, which is available in the stickies, at the top of this forum.
By sending this you are not acknowledging the debt, just asking them to prove you owe it, see what they come back to you with, if its been 6 years since acknowledged, then your response would be that it was SB, but best to find out first.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I had a few debts from when i was about 20, so a good 17yrs ago, some of the were never paid, could it possibly be from back then? Even though its way over 6yrs for them..0

Could be, some companies specialise in old unenforceable debts relying on the fact that you, the debtor don't know your rights, as said before, only way to find out is to send the provit letter.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
