Monday 14th July - What Small DFW Things Will You Do Today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning
Hurrah lovely day here today :T
Start my new job today & have to leave ridiculously early! Have been up since with dgd!
DFW things for today:
* check banking & shift some funds
* quick bath
* hang out washing

* get petrol & check tyre pressure later
* something out of freezer for dinner

* sand a door????? Will I ever do this????
Think that's my lot! Have a great day x

Thanks for starting us determined, I hope you do indeed get your door sanded. I still have a half sanded hallway - so boring and messy, but will look great once done. Good luck with the new job!:T waves proudly!
- Up early to take guests to the station after taxi's last night were all booked already!Still, means I have:
- Washed 2 x bedding loads this morning, within cheap tariff, first is on the line already
- Watered plants from the water butt
- Enjoyed the bagels I bought for guests for breakfast as they were in too much of a hurry to eat!!
- pack carefully for 3 days away from home so not to have to buy extras along the way (including lunch stash to go in cupboard at work)
- voucher hunt before we go if possible
- Final blitz of the house ready for guests: kitchen/lounge/bedroom/bedroom/bathroom/stairs
- Deliver bike I never got around to yesterday
- Take bag to CS (oxfam, for nectar points...does anyone know other charity shops with loyalty type schemes? I used to work for oxfam so am a fan, but its a pig to get to in my town)
- Round up friends for fundraising social on Thursday night
- Email tickets for festival to work to print out

- Stay with friend tonight - I'm taking dinner, most probably pasta
this should be the only spend today! - claim back parking
- charge phones @ work
- arrange o/t at work

Hi all,
I need to get back on this as am determined to clear my CC - I have brought the date of this forward to Sept! 1600 to clear by then! (Was originally aiming for Dec but really want to clear this and then make regular payments to family loan)
So today:
-Need to get refund for some face products I have had had a reaction to
-We have made a meal planner - I need to shop for fresh fruit/veg in grocers and get only the things on my list in supermarket!
-Freecycle a couple of bits and we are collecting some freecycle bits too!
-check banking
Think that's it for now!
Hope you all have a great day

Morning Gang!! Happy Monday!
What a beautiful start to the day, sat out on the balcony with fruit and pancakes for breakfast soaking up the rays!!
Had a fantastic DFW weekend, lots of time spent at the allotment, nice long bike ride, home-made Daal curry and Sri Lankan music taking us back to our fantastic holiday... What a shame it's back to work for us!!
I'm sat waiting patiently to hear wether I am going to be required for a court case today or wether I can enjoy my last day off! Either way, here's today's plan:
Spend every minute possible in the sunshine
Get a load of washing on and out to dry
Hoover flat
Get kit ready for team-building trek day in the Brecon Beacons tomorrow - not a bad way to get paid on our spare day!
Check banking
Lidl shop - only a top-up so stick to list!
Visit grandparents
Visit Mam and Dad - as I'll be in Wales anyway can meet the work gang at the start of the walk, saving fuel cost etc.
Try and do some Adpoints
Budget for next month and upcoming holiday spending money
Think that's probably it for today!! Hope everyone is well
Lots of love,
Shoot x:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T"I am the master of my fate. I am the captain of my soul"0 -
Hi all. Shoot, love your smilie faces as bullet points!
So today I have:
* Contacted the police re the burglar they caught. Expecting a callback today
* Changed one memorable answer, checked to see £125 has gone in, set up mobile banking with first direct, added other accounts to IB+, set up unlimited internet banking, applied for Regular Saver, xferred £300 to savings.
* Managed to track down the email from the Parking Tribunal stating I should have expected a reply by 19th May
* Finish spreadsheet calculating my repayments/savings/debt. Obviously there's a lot of variables; but I have planned to pay off my debts by July 2015 whilst saving too. (My debts are all 0%)
TIP: * Phoned Orange to buy a minutes bundle to avoid going over my allowance. They ended up giving me a free 200 extra minutes bundle for a whole year . Brilliant! :T
* Phoned my homeless friend to see how he's getting on. Arranged to meet up with him after CAB tomorrow, arranged delivery of his new bed frame for this afternoon, and the delivery of his dining chairs for tomorrow.
* Chase up requested tenancy agreement & HB overpayment. Been fobbed off yet again, but at least I have a new email address to pester now, woohoo.
* Chase up parking appeal. Oh no! 2 appeals were granted and 3 were dismissed. Going to ask for a review.
* Rung court, sent in OH's permission for me to speak on his behalf, get more information on appealing the Further Steps
* Check Regular Saver account has been opened & money has been xferred.
And I need to:
* Tidy spare room, put old piggie cage away, organise the loft.
* Print some photos to stick in my diary/journal
* Do an electric meter reading
* Use up fridge leftovers
* Add recent work experiences to a list of things to talk about at interviews & to CV (CAB, dispute at work, taking in Rob, screenshots of Excel formulae/budget)
* Hoover & sweep
* Write a complaint about Yorkshire Water
* Check last couple of mobile phone bills
* Ring Sky & get wrong direct debit refunded0 -

I was thinking one of the things that I really need to do is to post my list on a daily basis although it will not all be things that will save me money but things that I need to get done.

Morning Campers,
Beautiful day here - the Factor 30's going to have to come out today. (Aldi's of course!)
Today's small positive things:
*Saved energy by sharing bath water & doing the laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff & line drying. Washer reloaded for another cheap wash tonight.
*Cut lettuce & 2 cucumbers from veggie garden.
*Did some greenhouse maintenance - weeded border & tidied up a few iffy looking leaves from chilli & aubergine plants.
*Watered veggie garden.
*Planted out more basil plants - looks to be a good year for basil as it likes the sunshine. Pesto making planned for this week or next.
*Put some cheesy rock ballads on & did tidying & housework fast until CD ended - tidy house, clean kitchen & free fitness (& some singing therapy....now't like a bit of Bonnie Tyler for a good sing!)
*Free leisure today will be casting on the front of the jumper I'm knitting for a present, & work out the maths of where the logo is going to go. Also aiming to finish current library book & a pile of magazines so I can recycle them on to Mum & friends. (nice to swap them as get free 'new' ones to read).
*Make tomorrow's packed lunches.
*Filled tiny plastic boxes with value dried fruit for work snacks.
*Check into Rosemary Conley online (I got 3 months free) for motivation & to remind myself what day I'm supposed to be weighing in.
*Reminded mr f that new cat is only supposed to have one carefully measured portion of cat biscuits a day instead of a dish full. New cat is a bit of a hoover so is unlikely to complain.
*Did a few surveys.
*Reached an agreement with a garden centre about a faulty item which needs to be returned for a refund.
*Check terms of new pet insurance policy. Signed up with Sainsbury's pet insurance last night & found that we get 25% discount if we have a nectar card (we do) plus £25 of nectar points, so that's a good start. (The only time I decided NOT to get pet insurance, my cat at the time cost me around £1000 in vet bills during the first year, & then as one of the issues required intestinal surgery, I couldn't get him covered for anything remotely digestion-related in future, so lesson learned!)
That's it for today. Hope your first day goes well DNMS, also that your little grand-daughter is sorted out now with her Mum or childminder. She sounds like a cutie.
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hi Everyone
hope I can join in
Today I will be:
- [STRIKE]Checking YNAB/Bank accounts and reconciling.[/STRIKE]
- Posting £Bay bits that sold over the weekend
- Hanging the washing out on the balcony in the sun (even though the management company don't like it and will probably send me a snarky letter - I always reply saying I'll be happy to dry my washing in the tumble drier if they would like to contribute to the electric bill
)
- Looking out for goodies in the post (and hopefully no bills)
- Checking to see if my Topca$hback money can be paid out yet
- Same with Quidco
- [STRIKE]Sort out to do list and meal plan for the week[/STRIKE]
- Not spend any money out the joint account before Wednesday when OH gets paid!
L xDebt FREE thanks to YNAB0
