AMEX - any experiences?

I have a BA credit card issued by AMEX.

Has anyone had any dealings with AMEX with regard to negotiating reduced payments?

I currently owe them £23000 and have monthly repayments of £600.

Thanks in advance.

s far as I know Amex will not accept reduced payments they will probably get RMA resolve to collect it for them. RMA haven't got as good reputation I'm afraid . They tend not to write to you but insist on telephoning all the time . They prove difficult to get any sort of written confirmation of anything from.
  • I don't think Amex are a very caring company, all they care about are their profits, but it's worth asking. You don't get if you don't ask!

They declined my offer of repayment, refused to negotiate and handed my case to a solicitor and instructed the to get a Charging Order on my home - the case went to court and a payment order was made based on what I had offered them (and had been paying for several months) and no Charging Order was granted.
    Basically they are kick-!!! Americans!

    Thanks for the replies.

Does anyone ever get the "afraid to move" feeling with all this! Just posted letters to Mint, Capital One and Morgan Stanley offering reduced payments. Fingers crossed!

    Cheers

Capital One were fine with me - agreed an initial 6 month period to be reviewed then. No experience of Mint/Morgan Stanley.
    My biggest problems are HBOS
