Should I get a credit card to help with future mortgage application?

I'm 26 years years old and have had three credit cards in my lifetime which I has paid off in full each month until I cancelled them about 3 years ago. In the next 6 months I will be applying for a mortgage and wondered if I should look at applying for one to help me out with my credit score. I currently have no debt and have two bank accounts. Any help/advice would be great. Oh and my online credit score is excellent with both Experian and Equifax...

I think it wouldn't hurt to have a credit card if you haven't had one for the last 3 years but just make sure you pay it off in full each month.
