Nationwide open within a few days - quick process from memory if you already have one (but only one gets the decent interest for one year). If you and partner both have Nationwide and a dead account elsewhere you can get £50 each switching bonus if you use their RAF scheme (note you need to keep account open for 3 months before closing or they take the bonus back).

Halifax - no switching bonus if you have had one since January 2012 :(.

Just looking at trying to do this.

I'm already with Nationwide, and have just opened another account. It's given me a sort code and account number - is this all I need to switch to the Halifax account?

I've never switched an account before :o

You generally need the debit card too to switch - if you are no longer getting top interest in the original Nationwide, you could switch that one?
