No, IMO your better off with a normal saddle which is hardish but the proper shape and which supports your sit bones correctly . If your a woman get a womans saddle and vice versa.
For longer rides over say an hour I would wear a pair of cycling shorts with a pad in. This will help on longer rides, for short trips to the shops and staying local its not really necessary.0 -
i have also seen the Giant Escape 3 which is more expensive at £299

anyone had any experience with these bikes?
My partner has a giant escape, slightly different spec to that, he loves it.
I've got two giants a liv and a dash and they are great bikes.
My advice would be don't buy from halfords, go to an independent local bike shop Most will go out of their way to give you help and advice.0 -

I agree re overlays. they tend to slip about while your on them and can become more uncomfortable.
Some decent padded shorts help.0 -
I've got a Giant Rove, bought from an independent bike shop. Couldn't have been a better experience! Also got a padded saddle and some of these...

also if you are going to use bike often (training...) I strongly suggest to get a budget for shoes and pedals. This will totally change your understanding of pedaling and reduce the pain you might experience, if you pedaled wrong (but even this must be properly set up).
Ideally is to get body-geometry program (if you are going to use the bike for training), which some companies offer, but those things are expensive (in this price range, you might get to a price of the bike itself).
