I'm interested in the penny pizzas. Is it just standard dough?

It's plain flour, yeast, oil and water. You should be able to find the recipe on Jack's website. I'm hopeless at links but I'll go and have a quick look.

It sounds daft, but I think it's more difficult to live in an economical way if you don't have to. If it has to be done, I can knuckle down to scrimping & saving as a way of life. So what I suggest might help you do it, is to artificially create an economic situation by saving for something big & committing yourself to putting aside £xxx a month. Make it a large enough chunk to be a bit tight on your finances. Then you'll get your mojo back!

I'm saving for a new kitchen. By the time I have saved enough I should be able to face having it done. The one in our new house is OK but past it's best and the cupboards are too high for 5 ft tall me so I have to use a child's step to reach them.

I have studied the 2nd purse thing, but as far as I'm concerned my best plan is to put my shopping money in my little purse and make it go as far as possible. If there's money left over then that is good.

I think I should join you all as I have completely lost it. Between lending all our emergency money to Dd to get her Oh through his months training and not getting to the sm often enough to bulk buy drinks my cash flow is seriously messed up. Dd showed me the error of my ways today by going on a shopping spree and only spending 22p by using vouchers and points. So Im jumping back on the wagon.

Lunchtime I was so hot and weary suggested MacD's  instead I took my vouchers in Mr T bought the makings of a ploughmans lunch and a case of coke. I added a grated carrot mixed with mayo and a couple of hm pickles. Tonight its pasta and veg in cheese sauce with ham bits from the market (£1.50 for 500gms).

    Feeling more positive already :T

Ginnyknit, I know what you mean. I'm funding my youngest through his course and unpaid work experience. He's finish September 8 and will start earning September 10. He knows he's got a job on the unit he's trained on.

I'm just looking forward to not having to pay for his fuel for travel and his spending money. He can't manage a part time job because he's working 39 hours a week and does shift.

I'm going to jump in here too as this thread is perfect for me. Just returned to MSE after a very long break, however have done one positive thing in all that time, yesterday paid a fairly big sum into my mortgage which is my main aim in life right now to pay off as much as poss.
I too have lost all my good intentions to live more OS and whilst I have been saving regularly it's not enough as whatever is left has been frittered away (internet shopping for clothes). I now have so much clothes that I don't really know what I have and run out of space so end up wearing same things all the time. (need advice on how to get this under control) So this and getting food spending under control will be first task. This weekend I'll do a cupboard inventory, although when I've done that I'm a bit stuck as to how I should use it?

Ostaragirl if you post a list if you get stuck someone usually jumps in with ideas I can't even open my cupboards ATM without getting a tin on my foot lol :D

*waves at Ginny* we have the excuse its too hot and we're too damn tired to think straight :D;) although I don't know what excuse I'll come up with when it cools down...

Redid our SOA with the new figures and it's not going to be as scary as I thought (she says crossing fingers) as I've cancelled a few useless DD's etc.

    :wave:D&dd hi!

I also cancelled a dd yesterday but found I was overdrawn so Oh had to rescue me  Guess how I found out? In bl**dy TOsco's :o. Then I found a ten pound note in my purse - goodness knows where it came from.

Pasta at teatime bulked up with homegrown peas and courgettes was really nice. I grated a carrot in it too. We havent been eating enough veggies mainly because Oh isnt eating much so am mainly catering for one and resort to sandwiches for myself - Ds told me off about that so had best behave.

Going to check out the blackberries later and see how they are coming along - have a craving for crumble.

    Hi,
I'd like to follow if ok?
I'm desperately trying to be more OS as I pay down debt, and then tackle the mortgage (all whilst working 'a lot' and renovating a house). This does make me 'time poor' but I know that I can do better, and that I am quick to find excuses or give in to convenience.
I'm also keen to learn to cook more than my usual cycle of meals (roasts, bolognese, chilli, pasta bakes....) and want to try using lentils, and baking breads and pastry / cakes / biscuits.
I've already been inspired by people on here, and hope it'll be ok to join as a wannabe OS'er :) x

We have hot water:T unfortunately we will need a new boiler before winter. Sooooo I really need to get a grip and slash that housekeeping bill.

Just finished unpacking the kitchen boxes and put all my kitchen stuff away. Time for lunch and then make a start on the paperwork and files etc.

Steadily decluttering as I go, some for charity shop, some for chucking and hopefully some to sell and try and raise some much needed cash.

Am now keeping a spending diary. Not too bad so far this week but I did succumb to a couple of ready meals due to the kitchen being in such a state. However, now that it is now ship shape and in good working order it's down to some serious "economy gastronomy":rotfl::rotfl:

Time to check out what's lurking in the fridge. The next couple of days will be using leftovers so should be interesting.

Good luck everyone, keep up the good work.
