well we put in a claim a year ago and although we didn't expect to get anything in my head I was planning a world cruise lol luckily I didn't book it as we got a result today - £480 - not as much as I would liked but its ok considering I thought we were time barred and we surrendered one of the polices in 2007 and sold the other one the same year, oh well the world cruise will have to wait

what I don't understand though is why others get thousands and we get under £5000

Did they not give you a letter explaining how they came to that amount?
Did you complain to the company or the financial ombudsman? If you were not happy with the amount have you accepted it? If so, why?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. By 2007, many endowments were getting back on track on (even though statements may have shown shortfalls). We had just had nearly 5 years of continuous growth. So, you sold at a peak.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. so because we sold I'm thinking we got our money back then so to speak ?
and yes I have got a letter don't understand a word of it though , we will query it but I know we won't get anywhere , we're just not meant to be rich lol0 -
The compensation is designed to put you back in the position you would have been in had you chosen a repayment mortgage rather than an endowment. The difference between the two was likely small, particularly if you sold at a peak.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
