Bailiffs have sent Council Tax Debt back to Council

We have received a letter today from Phoenix which says they have returned the debt back to the Council for further recovery action. Are we likely to be able to negotiate with the Council for a payment plan? Thank you.

Hi,
Difficult to comment without knowing more detail, I assume you have complained about the bailiff to the council, or vice versa, and the issues you have raised have had the desired effect.
Yes you should be able to negotiate a payment plan with them.
I assume this has not been to court ?
Make a realistic offer to them in writing as soon as you can to avoid any further action been taken against you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Yes you can. Taking any serious action such as your imprisonment for refusal to pay would require your refusal to actually repay the debt. If you can show you are willing to pay something then further recovery action may not be possible.:footie:
