Why do all my t-shirts shrink?

Hey

Weird friday evening question, lol. Just looking for some tips. All the t-shirts I buy end up too short after washing them. It happens with cheap Primark ones, and with expensive ones. They fit everywhere else, they just get short, nearly showing ma belly, lol. What are we doing wrong? :P my wife washes everything in a 30 deg wash.

Are they being tumble dried as this is the worst culprit for shrinking stuff

Its just the cheap material they all use. My husband has the same problem. The polo shirt type material does not seem to do it. Maybe switch to trying one of those see if its any better for you.

I like to grip the shoulders of t-shirts and give the hems a 'bit of a gentle tug' followed by a 'strong shake' before hanging over the bars of the airer/put on a coat hanger to dry.

I wash mine at 40C and tumble dry at cool after giving them a good stretch and shake. I have started buying Maine polo shirts (from Debenhams) when they are in the sale, because they do not seem to shrink at all and keep their shape. Cotton traders are not bad, and Fred Perry and Dunlop seem to be OK.
