Not really sure how to start this, so I think a little background information may help. My name is Josh, I'm 16 and have just left school; I live in the West Midlands.

For the last couple of years while I have been at school, I have been a constant impulse spender and lazy !!!!, who expects a job, money and success to just fall into his lap. Over the last couple of days I have realised this and am hoping to make a change and become a better self. I think signing up to a helpful forum like this which is full of good members will be vital to my success, as Unfortunatly, with laziness comes the ability to never see anything through. This is why I started this diary, as I feel it will be helpful for me to motivate myself and also if people are intrested they can have a read!

Hope you like the diary, and sorry if I'm a bit of a boring b*stard, it's not intentional ;)

11/07/2014 (the journey to start saving and stop spending begins) - Purchased 1 Tupperware box and 2 mason jars to help me distinguish what is spending money and what is saving money.

The Tupperware box is my 'savings', I have said to myself that I must not use the money out if this box under any circumstances. I can contribute as much money as I like to this box, but I need to be mentally disciplined and say once the money's in, I can't take it out!

The 1st mason jar is my 'spending money' this fund is my money for activities with friends such as going out, and basically doing what I want with. This is the only fund I can take money out of and I cannot transfer any money from spending to saving, or from saving to spending. Once it's in the individual fund, it's in.

The 2nd mason car is first for one of the challenges on the debt free wannabe forum. I can't open this until the 28th of November! ;)

Current Finances:
Saving Fund: £102.00
Spending Fund: £40.00

SAVING FOR THE FUTURE AS OF JULY 2014
Emergency Savings Fund: £120 / £1080 (11.11%)

NSD: November: 2/12
