Mortgage and deed query

not sure if I'm in the right place but heres my situation..

A friend of mine has a family relative on his mortgage as well as himself, now can the relative force my friend to sell the property. The relative has no records of ever paying the mortgage.

Please advise

    Yes it is an option.

    Who actually pays the mortgage is of no consequence.

    Yes and the relative will be entitled to half the money from the sale.
  • This case has been to court and the judge decided in favour of the relative name to remain on the mortgage deed. Now my friend is worried that the relative will force him to sell. Other than my friend buying him out is there another way to stop the relative from trying to sell the property?

    Buying out is the only real option if the property is to be retained.
