I found out last week having looking on my credit file that I've got a ccj from an o2 mobile phone contract from 2009 for £300 I totally forgot about it and have moved house a few time since and don't recall getting any letters from the debt collectors or from the Northampton court to pay it as and now around £1000 with charges, anyway to cut a long story sort I called the debt agency and agreed to pay if off in full, they said no I cant as I have missed the court deadline and now with a local court, the debt agency said I can only pay through attachment to earnings which I cant as only work casual, I just want to pay it off in full and don't want it dragging out but the debt agency wont help and I haven't heard from my local court yet, any advice welcome

They should still be able to take payments correct and cancel or suspend any order. You obviously spoke to a particularly dim debt collector when you called.Still rolling rolling rolling......

thanks I did ring them about 5 times over 3 days but they still refused saying I have gone over the time scale and they cant stop court action which I understand now but mad they cant accept the payment in full0

Nothing is preventing them stopping it apart from their own stupidity.
Likely they would never be able to get any deductions from it anyway so even more mad to refuse you.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

I think what has happened here is this:
You got a claim for your mobile debt. This was processed through Northampton bulk centre. Because you didn't (or couldn't) respond, they got judgement by default.
They have now applied to enforce the judgement, probably via an attachment of earnings order. This needs a hearing and that has been transferred to your local court.
You have not yet heard from your local court yet about that hearing.
They are stuck because the application has been made and they probably want their costs included.
Does this all make sense?BSC No 248

hi yes it makes sense now thanks but I hope the charges don't go up as been mad busy getting the money to pay it off and will wait for the court to write to me then0

Since you only have the DCAs word for it, I wouldn't sit back and wait.
I would get on to Northampton to get a copy of the judgement. I would also ask them if they know anything about it being moved.
Call your local court to see if they have anything scheduled.
I would also call one of the charities in my link (probably National Debtline) to see what advice they can offer. They will have dealt with cases like this and may have other options regarding payment.
Finally, if I was annoyed enough to get pen to paper I would complain to the DCA about them refusing payment.BSC No 248
