in Cutting tax
Hi guys,
(This is my first post so I apologise in advance for any breaks in etiquette).
I'm a student about to graduate, last academic year I took a year out and worked from August '12 to August '13. Thanks to the timing the new tax year began (just) before I met my tax allowance for the year '12 - '13 and finished my employment before meeting my tax allowance for the year '13 - '14. I did however pay tax for those few months up until August '13 when I left as HMRC obviously assumed I would be working at that rate for the whole tax year and go over my allowance. Totalling a couple of hundred £.
I realise that this is where a tax rebate should be requested using a P50. However when I look for it online I can only find the new interactive version (Sorry as a new member I'm not able to post the link). Which tries to force me to input the income I have received since my last employment (which there is none, I have been a full time student again) and so I cannot proceed further! Also - now that I have graduated I cannot be 100% sure that I will not start employment again within the next 4 weeks which it also states will affect the process.
What do I do from here?!

a P50 is not now relevant to your situation; it would have been used in August 2013 when you finished work.
as that tax year is finished, the question about starting work in the 'next' 4 weeks is irrelevant as it means September 2013
phone up HMRC with your P60 / P45 for the year 2013-14 and they should be able to sort out a refund over the phone
otherwise just write a letter giving details of your employment and details of P60/P45 (retaining copies for yourself of course)0
