Speeding up Council Searches?

So I am buying a property.
I am waiting on the council to complete searches that the solicitor has instructed.
The solicitor said it can take 6 weeks to complete.
It has been around 3 so far.
Just wondering if there is any way of speeding this up? Even paying the council a back hander to speed mine up?
Eager to complete and get moving.
Any advice please shoot my way.
Thanks.

See if the solicitor can agree an indemnity policy in lieu of the searches.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. My solicitor was just waiting for the local search and seemed to be in no real rush so I gave the council a call myself who said they would chase the right department and tell them it was urgent and get it sent out to our solicitors in the next couple of days. So may be worth giving them a call yourself.0

I just rang the main number and told them I wanted to chase up searches on the house I was purchasing and they put me through.0

Is your solicitor doing them directly or through a company, e.g. search flow?
Mine was through a third party and you can chase the council, but once they have sent the information there is nothing else that they can do. I tried....took 5 weeks!0
