Does Anyone Know Any Basic Bank Accounts........

.........that can be applied for online?
The big stumbling block i'm imagining is, i'm already in 'the brown stuff' with Barclays and Abbey..... theyve closed my current accounts and are obviously chasing me up for More than the token payments!
I dont want an overdraft, just something to use a standing order facility on. (My rent top up to the landlord, you see).
It cost me over a fiver using a Postal Order this month.........and the landlord isnt happy about having to take it to the bank himself!!!
Ive seen Citibank online............BUT, when you send the signed forms back to them, they want a personal cheque from yourself for a pound....to open the account with, and verify your identity!. (Like i said.....i havnt got an active Bank Account at all now!)
Any suggestions please...............?

I opened a Natwest Step Account, no overdraft or chq book facilities, great for someone who's not too clever with money - suits me fine!!!

A&L offer an account through Quidco (£50 cash back), I've opened one of these too.
Nationwide do do an account but you have to apply in branch only.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Just make sure wherever you open a basic account, they have no links with any bank/cc company you owe money to - for example, Nationwide are part of Barclays, Halifax and Bank of Scotland are the same company and so on. A full list of Basic Bank Accounts is available at:

so have a look and see what's best for you - good luck!0 -

I applied for the account through quidco, I think you are right it was the premier one. I have bad credit history and was accepted for the account but not accepted for O/D facilities, which suits meDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

I applied through quidco like above and got the account with cheque book and debit card they would not let me have the overdraft unless I shut down my other bank account then they would match my overdraft.
I had been on a DMP for over a year and yet they gave me one - just waiting for my £50 now!
I like the online handling of the account its good. I had my cheque book within the week of applying too so spot on!0 -
