O/S Daily Thread Thursday 10th July

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Usual dash but just wanted to share that our debt is now under £18,000 and likely to take one more big dive this month, when we get paid and DH gets paid for more marking.

Islandmaid - it's your wedding and you should do exactly what you two want, I wish we had! x

Time to run but will try and pop back later to catch up on news.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early. Greenhouse and plants watered. Load in WM and load in DW.

Cloudy and overcast here, and the temperature has really dropped, really windy and the air has a bit of a chill to it this morning.

Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, mash, broad beans, carrots, broccolli, HG green beans, LO Yorkshires. Tonight will be gammon, egg, onion sauce, potatoes and peas/green beans.

I will be running around today, like a blue a**e fly – I’m going to do the food shopping shortly – I want to get to SM early and get that done, need to tackle ironing mountain, pack, housework and do some baking if I get time later. We’re going away tomorrow, so in the morning I’ll just go to the bank first thing, then we’ll head off, I’m really looking forward to this weekend, I really need a weekend away. Starting to feel how long it is since I had proper time off – my last proper holiday off from work was in January and my main holiday isn’t until August so still a little while to go but once DS2 finishes school for the summer break next week, it lifts the pressure – even though I don’t have to do school runs etc, everything is just more relaxed.

I managed yesterday afternoon to get the vouchers ordered for our hols, and did another home admin job – had to sit and wait for ages on automated telephone line – but eventually got to speak to someone and that’s another item ticked off the “to do” list.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,
It's gonna be another hot day, I'm not complaining but a few clouds would be welcome as I'm on duty all day feeding the cement mixer and we have no shade in the south facing garden, we managed to get a third of it done y/day.
We were shattered as we didn't finish until 4.30, then a DF arrived at 5pm as she wanted me to go through all paper work (with a fine tooth comb) she has regarding buying her first property. She didn't leave until 7.30 !! so we had a late dinner. :(
Pulled a HM quiche out of the freezer for dinner, par boiled new pots to go with salad, got loads of fruit, from the Morries offer for pud.
Right, off I go and start mixing.
Hope you all have a good day. :)

    Morning :hello:

The sun is shining, hopefully it'll last all day.

I woke up feeling exhausted and achy, not sure why? I've got no energy. I'll do some paperwork and a couple of easy jobs this morning, hopefully I'll feel better later and can get on with the garden.

    Morning all.

I haven't been on for a while as I had a flare-up and wasn't really up to much :( Anyway, starting to get back with it now.

M.I.L is taking the troops after school so I don't have to worry about a meal later. It's a lovely sunny day so I've put a wash on and will get that out once it's done. Apart from that, I just want to tidy the hallway as the recycling is building up and shoes are gathering. I would hate for visitors to call at the minute :o

Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Morning all,

Extremely dull and windy here today. Went to work this morning and the large gazebo had blown over, so spent most of the time taking that down.
Seem to be spending most of my time on ebay and Gumtree looking for another moped for DS as his needs lots of tlc to make it a good runner. I am amazed at how many for sale, the owners only have the green slip and not the log book. We steer well clear of those as it seems a bit dodgy!
Should do some housework really but I might just make a coffee and watch 'This old thing' on replay instead.

    Have a good day

    Morning all

Its quiet chilly here today, feels like Autumn.

I didn't manage to get anything done yesterday, I think I may have got out of bed the wrong side as I was in a foul cannot be bothered kind of mood, so no housework got done, which means more to do today, top of the list is hoover throughout the downstairs, fridge needs cleaning out, soup for tea needs making, we have the carpet coming this afternoon so I need to make sure it is ready for it to be laid this evening, I also need to fit the ironing in as the pile is starting to take over the dining room table

Hope everyone has a lovely day x
