I had my lbm in February of this year. My oh broached the topic of buying a house and I realised that with debt of £24857.23 there was absolutely no chance of me being able to get a mortgage.

Totally unable to sleep I found this website whilst trawling the internet for a solution.

Since then I have followed many threads and taken on board loads of advice resulting in:
A refund of £1305.27 for premium account bank charges
A refund of £6286.40 for ppi on my overdraft
A refund of £1285.54 for ppi on my credit card
A refund of £6056.55 for ppi on a series of loans I took out in the late 90's.

I have spoken to npwer and they have refunded the £356 I was in credit and I have switched to a different provider.

I have cancelled a direct debit by bt, who I have not been with for over ten years and got £90 back that I had in credit.

I have put a number of shoes, clothes and handbags ( the main reasons for the huge debt) onto eb@y and sold them for £500 (and counting!).

I have started to think about whether I actually need something before I buy it!

Finally, and most importantly, I have actually spoken to my oh about the situation I got myself into. He is going to pay off the rest of my debt and then I will pay slightly more into our mortgage until we are even!

So I will now find myself debt free by the end of this month!:j

I am absolutely amazed by this and just wanted to say thank you to all the good people whose stories I have read and whose experiences have helped me on my, much shorter than anticipated, journey. Best of luck to you all.
