Hi all,
I received a parking ticket from UKPC for "stopping in a no stopping zone" outside/at a retail park in Birmingham. Technically I did not even stop there (there is also parking there???) as my husband literally paused for less than a few seconds so I could check my daughter's car seat (engine on, still crawling forwards, not actually stopped)
The 'offence' was in August, I received the first letter 3 months later. I ignored it.
They then sent a few more, so I wrote to them informing them that a)they were out of time and b) no consequential loss etc. as per the guidelines on here. I also informed them that although I am the keeper, I was not the driver, as their pictures clearly show (you can see hubby's head over the seat, photo is from behind the car. Hubby is a 6ft bloke with brown hair, I am a 5 foot woman with blonde hair, you can never see my head lol)
Didn't hear anything back, until a letter from 'Debt Recovery Plus' informing me I now owe £149. That was in February.
Today I've received another letter giving me a week to pay or they will advise the parking company to take me to court.
What should I do?

you should READ the NEWBIES sticky thread at the top of this forum, there is a complete section on debt collectors in there
the keeper can be held responsible under POFA 2012 if the rules are met, so not sure this DRIVER issue will hold up
if there was no windscreen ticket, consider naming the driver and starting over, with forum help this time0 -
UKPC don't do court so have a laugh at the letter chain. Read the debt collector post in the Newbies thread, top of this forum, please. And one request - please don't post as each and every letter in the chain arrives as this is a busy forum about appeals, not about debt collector letter chains which have been documented in thousands upon thousand of threads for about a decade.
To 'bore yourself silly' reading threads about that tedious DRP letter chain and to understand why we don't want/cannot reply to endless new threads about the letters, please just search 'Recovery' as your keyword using 'search this forum' next to 'forum tools' above the sticky thread on page one.
Thanks! Do search & read other people's experiences on their threads and read the NEWBIES sticky thread. Should not have ignored the PCN. Too late now, you are officially in ignore mode. Nothing will happen, no court no CCJ and no effect on your credit rating. Relax.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0
