Right, decision made and money spent. I wanted to have a look at the Halfords bikes, but they told me that they didn't carry them in stock, and I would have to order one in. That seemed too much like hard work. In the end I visited a local (for Wales) dealership and bought a Wisper 905 Classic. I've had it a few weeks now and have done more miles on it than I did in the last 10 years on my push bikes. Tonight, I am going to ride it to work. 26 miles there and back, unlit rural roads, some of it in the dark. Wish me luck.
I absolutely love it, and wish I had taken the plunge years ago.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
Well, I am sitting here at work, having done it. Breathing has now returned to normal, although bum and legs know they have had a workout.
Sod's law, I took the speedo off the bike to record the mileage and time, put it in my pocket, and by sitting down I have reset everything to zero before I looked at it. But from my watch it was 54 minutes for about 13 miles. Average speed a little over 14 mph, which isn't too shabby for an old git.
Best thing was, it was good fun and very enjoyable. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -
I got talking to a couple in a motorhome on a site in Northumberland a couple of weeks ago. They had purchased a pair of Volt Metro folding bikes and couldn't praise them enough. I even was allowed a short 'go', and thought it was pretty good. After reading this thread, I have discussed it with my wife and she seems pretty keen on the idea. We always took bikes with us in the caravan and used them all the time in France, but she has had serious health issues in the last few years which have persuaded us to leave them behind and use the car. I reckon with an electric bike she might be able to get back onto two wheels again, which would do her morale a lot of good.
I popped into my local Halfords to check out the OP's bike, but they didn't have any in stock - special order only. That's a shame, because I won't buy one without seeing it first. But the search continues, and I am reading this thread with great interest. Keep the posts/experiences/opinions/advice coming!
Have you thought about visiting the Caravan & Motorhome Shows, theres generally quite a few electric bikes on show, and for demo.
Good chance to compare.0
