Struggling to get debt free

How do you do it, i've tried head in the sand method (doesn't work) i've tried budgetting (its great as long as i don't let my other half anywhere near any cash). I've tried just not spending anything other than paying bills. Alas nothing seams to get me debt free. now i only have a small amount of debt (probably about £1500), but its a struggle to meet both my monthly commitments and my mounting mole hill of debt.

Just how do you ensure you meet both?

how do i get myself from the red and into the black peramnantly?

I've done the brown bagging for lunch, ive got the energy saving bulbs to cut the cost of energy?
I use cut price stores for food. i have a second job.

What else can i do?
A penny saved is a penny earned.
The less you spend the more you have.

    Three things:

    1) Post an SOA here - the wise bods who inhabit this board may be able to see savings that haven't occurred to you. Fresh pair of eyes and all that.

2)Spending diary. Write down every penny that leaves your wallet. Seeing what the 'stuff' actually goes on can be a real eye opener. Ie a daily newspaper can add up to £15/month. This was my big help.

    3) and this is nothing to do with money saving per se, but when you sig line is longer than your post, you might want to reconsider it!

Well it's hard to tell you how to clear the debt without more details - we need to see ALL your outgoings, all your income and full details of your debts (including interest rates). Then we'll be able to advise you on ways to cut the debt quicker.

Basically, the only way to clear debts is to first, live within your means, second, use that newly freed up cash from your reduced expenses to throw at the debts. Increasing your income helps too, any chance of a second job to help?
