Hi everyone,
Sorry if similar/same thread exists! I used to do all my shopping at Aldi but now I have moved to Scotland and there is a Lidl 1 minute walk away (not completely an accident!). However, there is an Aldi around a mile away.
So basically, is there anything that is significantly cheaper in one or the other? Or even just a few pence that you feel is important?
Also, anything which you all think is better quality at/products that aren't available?
I am looking for normal stuff as I keep an eye on all offers/special ranges etc... at both.
Thanks everyone!

I like lidl meat better & aldi fruit, veg, cooked meats, cheese, washing up liquid, nappies, wipes.......
Honestly everything else but lidl has more offers on meat.Living the simple life0 -
We found the veg to be better in Lidl, seeming to last longer. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

I check the weekly specials online and decide which I want based on that. Lidl is next door to me, but I find the super 6 fruit/veg great in Aldi.0

Aldi and Lidl are my 2 closest supermarkets. Most things are pretty similar in both although I will buy some products in one rather than the other as I think they are a bit better. There are some products however that only 1 sells and they are usually things I don't need often. The number of times I can't remember which one sells it and end up looking for it in the wrong shop you would not believe!2024 Fashion on the Ration - 3.5/66.5 coupons remaining1 cardigan - 5 coupons13 prs ankle socks - 13 coupons5 prs leggings - 10 coupons4 prs dungarees - 24 coupons1 cord jacket - 11 couponstotal 63 coupons0

my local Aldi and Lidl are completely different stores! I normally shop at Aldi but if in the area will pop into Lidl just to see 'what they got that's different'.
in both stores a lot depends on management and staff how well the store is run - freshness of produce, etc. Lidl often have really good offers and some stores have an instore bakery.
I hope its a 'good' store - if so then you should enjoy shopping there!0 -
our local Lidl smells, always smells, so I go to Aldi most of the time!!Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0

My local Aldi is absolutely filthy and scruffy beyond belief. Every time I've bought any of the '6' at least one item in the pack has been over ripe, mouldy or rotten. I've completely given up on going there.
I don't eat refridgerated tomatoes (because their flavour's destroyed by the cold) so I make a special journey every week to Lidl to buy them, and while I'm there I usually buy their three 'cheapies' and always, always check the price of red peppers.
And Lidl's goats cheese - fabulous. And their anchovies in olive oil.Better is good enough.0 -
All the Lidls and Aldis that I have had experience with so far have been very good, so lets hope that doesn't chage! I have quite a simple diet (pretty much nothing processed, lots of fruit and veg etc...) so hopefully Lidl will serve my needs. But the Super 6 at Aldi was always good, meat and veg wise.
Went to a different Lidl today and despite everyone saying Aldi and Lidl are basically the same this isn't quite true!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
