    Hi Dokey,

    I'm assuming it's a debt management plan?

    Ditch Angel Advance, ignore Money Plus and go free with either Stepchange, Payplan, Christians Against Poverty, etc...

    Don't pay people to do what you can have done for free!

    Yes stay away from people who you have to pay to clear your debts. If they are charging you there not helping you!

    Hi Dokey,

    Not wanting to scare you but here is the most recent (or at least I think it is) example of what can happen using a paid for company;
    Default Debt Management company ripped us off!!!
    My husband and I went with a DMC in September 2009, we had small debts of around £8,000. After five years we now have debts of £16,000, my husband has a CCJ, and we have a Charging Order on our house! The company has now gone into administration, taking with it about £1,800 that we had in 'a pot', supposed to be for paying lump sums to our creditors. We feel we have wasted our money for five years, and are now worse off than before, and don't know what to do next! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    I can speak for Stepchange in saying that you get an online account to view and update balances, annual reviews of income & expenditure and a great team of people to speak to (on a freephone number) when you need them.

    Monkeyballs' advice is good. Fee paying services add nothing to the ease of the process (compared to the charities) and their fees are front loaded. You will probably pay nothing off your debts for the first few months.

    Worst case is you might not pay anything off your debts if they go broke.
